to unofficial things clean & sober people do!
Our home base is the community room of Grace Lutheran Church at 745 S. Ingraham Avenue, Lakeland, FL.
We meet here at 8:00 p.m. on Friday nights, or at other places as listed in this schedule. Join us!
August 14th - We're playing card games. You can come to just watch or stay to play. If you don't know how, we'll teach you!
August 21st - Meet us at the Polk Theater at 139 S. Florida Avenue. Admission is $5.00 to watch a childhood favorite flick:
Lady & the Tramp (on the Big Screen)
Yes, bring the kids! This is a family friendly Disney animated classic. It's worth five bucks to support and admire the famous historic Polk Theater. Back in the day, Judy Garland sat on the edge of the stage and sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". Even Elvis Presley played the Polk!August 28th - We'll be gathering at This Friday's home base to play team trivia. It's easier with teams and a good excuse to crosstalk since this is certainly not an official AA meeting. Sobriety is not lonely and dull with friends in the program!
This web page is a new way to spread the word about an old idea! What do we do on Friday nights after the party's over and we finally stop drinkin' and druggin'? They say to change people, places, and things. Sure. Just how do we do that? It means meeting new people, going places we haven't been before, and doing new things.
Jumping on an internet chat with a bestie who lives in cyberspace is great, but it isn't quite the same. We're here when the power goes out! We are never alone when we have live local litter mates. At THIS FRIDAY we don't have to explain ourselves. We're free! We can have fun and recover TOGETHER.
The Big Book says, "We absolutely insist on enjoying life." It's on page 132. We are a happy lot, and if you want what we have, ya' gotta' do what we do!
If you're unsure... if you have questions, comments, or concerns, ask the person who sent you this invitation!
If you're an old timer or don't approve of this, bring a coffee and join us. It might just be fun for you, too. Let's don't let the organization get in the way of the objective. When we're new in sobriety, what else is there to do in Lakeland, FL on Friday night? Stay home and read about Living Sober or start doing it. Come on! Help us show 'em how it's done. Tradition 1 - "Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon A.A. unity."
See you THIS FRIDAY
